Before installing polished or semi-polished porcelain, check out these two very important care and maintenance tips. Only a few simple steps for a long-term look of cleanliness!
1. Seal it.
If you've purchased a polished or semi-polished porcelain, this may come as a surprise: your safest bet is to seal it! The process of polishing opens up micro-pores in the surface of the tile. While your tile will most likely not absorb dirt or oils, it’s best to play it safe and protect the finish of the tile. There are many sealers on the market, which are suitable for porcelain tile. Just make sure to read the application instructions carefully and follow them with extreme care. (Note: if you're using colored grout, you should test the grout to make sure it's compatible and that it does not bleed into your tile’s surface.)
2. Clean it.
Regular cleaning will help to keep your polished porcelain looking new for a long time. Simply vacuum or sweep the first layer of dirt and debris. Next, mop the tile with a product specifically designed for use on polished porcelain. Follow the instructions on the bottle and be sure to use the recommended amount of cleaner on your tile. Before the cleaner has time to dry, mop the tile with plenty of clean water. Lastly, dry the tile with a soft clean cloth.
And there you have it … polished porcelain that looks brand new!
